Llanberis
Photos from a trip to the North West corner of Wales taking in Gwynedd, Anglesey and Snowdonia.
While Llanberis is well known as the place to catch the mountain railway to the top of Mount Snowdon, it is also a pleasant town in itself that retains some rural character.
With a street of small shops, cafes, hotels and restaurants it is the centre of a major tourist hub with the Llanberis Railway, Electric Mountain, Slatemines, the largest waterwheel on mainland Britain, is close to the little “healing” village of Nant Peris and is a base and centre of regular events such as The Snowdon Race (to the summit of Snowdon (at 3560 ft)), The Snowdonia Marathon (that goes all around Snowdon and through the Pen y Pass at 1100 ft) and a annual carnival.
Nearby there are twin lakes of Llyn Padarn and Llyn Peris which make pleasant scenery as well as having water related activities available.

During my visit to Llanberis I had a good meal in The Peak restaurant and on another evening I had fish ‘n’ chips with mushy peas out t chippy in the main street. Both were very good albeit very different in nature.
The images show that there was a mix of weather including sunshine and clouds that can make more interesting photographs but persistent cloud cover denied me a view of the Snowdon peak for most of my time in the area.
