First Snow
The first snow of the 2011 winter has fallen here in Central Scotland.
It is only around 1″ to 2 ” depending on where you are in West Lothian. That’s enough to be cold and damp but also enough to get out with the camera to catch a few shots when the sun peeks through the haze.
This first view (above) is looking towards the Pentland Hills from “Little Vantage”. The path along the side of this wall was an old drovers road for crossing the hills to Carlops and the Borders. This route was also used in times past by the Covenanters to secret locations for covert meetings hiding from the “Red Coats”.
Looking across the A70 and Harperigg reservoir into the west.
Some unseasonally green foliage beginning to turn yellow under the snowy conditions.
Another view from “Little Vantage” this time looking east towards Edinburgh.
The Pentland Hills covered in snow.
