Squinty Bridge
The “Squinty Bridge” crosses the River Clyde in the centre of Glasgow.
Officially called the “Clyde Arc” it was opened in 2006 and provides a crossing over the River Clyde between Finnieston and Pacific Quay.
The left side of the image, on the south side of the river, shows the BBC TV centre and the STV/SMG buildings in the “Media City” with Glasgow Tower behind.
The right side shows the silhouette of a massive crane, an iconic symbol of the shipbuilding heritage and “Pride of the Clyde” and in the distance some other large cranes that about all that remain of the industry in the area.
The blocky outline of the Crowne Plazza Hotel is also visible, as is the feint view of the Clyde Auditorium, a.k.a. the “Armadillo” through the legs of the crane. Both are part of the complex in the vicinity of the SSEC.
Regular visitors to this site who are familiar with my photographic tastes will notice this is a favourite technique, “contre-jour”, shot into the sun with high contrast bright highlighted objects illuminated by the evening sun with a coloured tinge in the sky.
These photographs were taken in July 2010 using a Fujifilm S5 DSLR. Shot in RAW format and processed in Photoshop CS2 ACR2.4
